Somewhere around the first of the month you quietly decide: less eating out. Not none, just less. Then the statement shows up at the end of the month, you add up the restaurant lines, and the number is nowhere near what it felt like while you were spending it.
That's not a willpower problem. It's a timing problem. The one moment you could actually change something, week two, when the budget still has room, is exactly the moment nobody tells you where you stand.
So we made Elenvo tell you. Set a monthly cap on a category, and Elenvo keeps an eye on it against what actually lands in your bank account. Cross 75% and you get a short email, while there's still time to do something about it.
This happened to one of us
One of our developers set himself a $210 dining budget. On May 8, after a Mother's Day dinner, he was at 81% with $38.15 left. Nobody told him. The statement at the end of the month said $322.80.
Since he turned alerts on, he hasn't spent more than $250 on dining in a month. Not because he suddenly got disciplined. Because someone said something on day eight.

Here's the email he would have gotten that day. How much is spent, what the cap is, what's left, and one line that does the actual work: "There is still room this month." If you keep going, one more email at 100% and one at 125%, and then it stays quiet until next month.

One switch per budget, one for everything
Not every budget deserves an email. Groceries might be a soft ceiling; dining out might be the one you actually want to hear about. So each budget has its own switch, and a single Budget Alerts switch in Settings turns all of them off at once.
You can read the receipts
Every email links back to your budgets page, where you can see exactly which transactions made up the month. That's the whole point: the number in the email is the number in your bank, not an estimate. And your bank connection runs through Plaid and is read-only, so Elenvo can see your transactions and never touch your money.

Set a cap and let Ellie watch it
Pick a category, set a monthly cap, and Ellie, your AI CFO, keeps watch from then on. You'll still get the month-end statement. You'll just already know what's in it.
